Sunday, November 22, 2009:More salonplas and yokoyoko...:X
wa...after friday bookout for ippt pass, my muscle ache until like crazy...

-IST on thurs afternoon because cannot do agr
- Friday SOC training

wa muscle now aching like mad, spamming yokoyoko and salonplas..hopefully can recover my muscles by tuesday because that's my final ippt....

yesterday went with my my mum and bro to ICA to renew passports, then dropped by the army market to get a backup ID tag for $4.50 + rubber gasket ($1).

Then went down to Sim Lim Square to fix up the hard disk and my computer's cpu fan. Well...almost got scammed $202 from the first shop. The guy said that the hard disk is literally gone, which led me to believe that the hard disk is literally gone case, together with the data. So after asking a few other shops on data recovery which the prices is $100 over, with one shop saying they'll daignose for $30, we went to Azenith at #05-51 where the guy say that it might just be the casing spoilt and the hard drive is likely intact, since hard drives are built for long lifespan. After changing casing, there was really no problem with the drive at all and the data is all intact! So i changed my CPU fan at the same shop and both items have a one month warranty.

That brings me back to one point where i recalled that during the hard drive malfunctioning, there were times where the data could be read without problems which further reinforces the fact that the drive has no problems at all!

Well...took a few pics of buses and some random shots

It looked like as if it was gonna rain....

Downtown line. Gonna ride it when it opens.

was raining after all, and a busy bus stop outside Fu Lu Shou Complex as the saturday crowd gathers there for the buses.

Sunday, November 15, 2009:This week
IPPT i don't know if i can pass, but can give it a shot at passing, troubled by the past that happened within the same time period...lucky is that NS serves as some sort of distraction for me at the moment. I also need to redig shellscrape, it's really better than some people re-field camp etc. heard that this week is my 16km route march too...and i don't know wether if my body/gastrics can handle or not...i've been feeling nauseous ever since after field camp. haiz....
3 more weeks, SOC, IPPT and route march stands in the way between me and POP...or GP as they renamed it. oh well...lan lan have to serve have to serve...lol.

Saturday, November 14, 2009:Initial Impressions of SMRT's new Citaros
Ever since SMRT introduced SMB1H (a Mercedes OC500LE) and its cousins, to SMB135E (a Yutong ZK), the local bus scene had an exciting trip. Now hang on tight as more great news comes in the form of 66 Mercedes Benz Citaros (yes, the original Citaros from MB in Germany) by SMRT Buses and more firsts for SMRT.

The Citaro is not the usual "Low Entry Front -Rear Exit" as found in the OC500LEs, the Yutong or of SMRT's rival SBST's Scania K230UBs & B9TLs. The Mercedes Benz Citaro is fully low floor from front to rear, and it takes one step to get to the seats. Finally, passengers will be willing to move in towards the rear without the hassle of climbing steps or having the dangers of falling down the steps in a low-entry bus. And the whole concept of fully low floor makes the bus more accessible to everyone.
The design follows SMRT's customisations, with black/grey interiors and red seat covers reflecting the corporate colours (though this may be changed before the bus enters revenue service). There are also some suprises in this bus such as foldable seats and a side display that's not at the usual place (in the middle of the first 3 windows) and no usual plug doors for the exit.

From the front and side, the Citaro seems to resemble a mix of new and old buses in Singapore, namely the OC500LE+Volgren Merc on the front, the Yutong, OC500LE and Habit on the side. The Citaro is an attractive bus and it will be a head turner and eye-catcher for everyone (especially if it is deployed on 190 in the city).

SMRT should be applauded for their efforts to make public transport more accessible to everyone and making new initiatives such as 1st Euro V public bus on the road, First China public bus on Singapore's roads and now the first fully low floor bus that is about to hit the roads in a few month's time. And it seems that SMRT's continuing the TIBS's tradition of European look buses in Singapore.

We look forward to the debut of the first fully low floor WAB bus, the Citaro by SMRT on Singapore's roads!
